The Jesuit global aim: Accessible schools for all

The Bursary Program honours the Jesuit global commitment to making schools accessible to all.

Established in 1880, our Bursary Program supports more than 60 students every year to attend Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview. Funding for the Bursary Program relies solely on the generosity of our community.

With our Ignatian values at its heart, the Bursary Program supports those who are marginalised and facing adversity in our community. It’s a program where your continual support is cherished.

Your generosity creates real opportunities for boys who would otherwise miss out. Every gift strengthens their ability to learn, grow and find their place in our community.

These numbers reflect more than funding. They represent lives changed and the ongoing support that keeps the Riverview spirit alive for every family.

About the Bursary Program

The College’s Bursary Program offers the opportunity of a Jesuit education to families who would otherwise be unable to afford it. Our bursary students come from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations communities, refugee families, rural areas and

the suburbs of Sydney. Each student is a valued member of our community, enriching the College with their unique experiences and perspectives.

Through the Program, the College actively engages with local communities while making a strong commitment to each individual student accepted into the Bursary Program.

We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in which all students can flourish and grow into ‘men for and with others.’ The Bursary Program is integral to this mission.

Bursaries are granted based on financial need, and the College does not offer scholarships based on academic, musical or sporting prowess.

Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview has, since 2004, extended the transformative gift of a Jesuit education to over 500 young men from families for whom such an opportunity would otherwise be out of reach.
The College has welcomed bursary students for 146 years. Our cherished Bursary Program - entirely funded through the generosity of our benefactors - represents a partnership between our benefactors, the College, and the bursary students and their families. It built on a foundation of generosity and heartfelt gratitude.

We warmly invite you to light the way by partnering with us to form young men who seek to make a difference in the world. To support the Bursary Program, please visit the College’s Bursary giving page or click below to donate. The impact of every gift is lasting.
