Sport is a valued and integral part of student life at Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview.
The College participates in the Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools (GPS) competition, fielding teams across a wide range of sports, including rugby, cricket, rowing, athletics, swimming, tennis, cross-country, and basketball.
Students also have opportunities to participate in a variety of non-GPS activities, such as sailing, mountain biking, water polo, football, volleyball, and other seasonal or skill-based sports. Participation structures vary by age group, with most students selecting a sport each term or season according to their interests and abilities.
Riverview’s campus provides extensive facilities to support this program, including fields, courts, indoor training spaces, and access to the Lane Cove River for rowing and sailing. Coaching is provided by both teaching staff and external specialists, with training schedules set at the start of each season. Fixtures follow the GPS calendar, and students are encouraged to meet the College’s standards for attendance, effort, and conduct while representing the school.
The sports program is designed to nurture participation, skill development, teamwork, and resilience, supporting students to enjoy sport while growing in confidence and character.
