This morning, the College presented an overview of Wingaru, the College’s new Science and Technology building. Scheduled to open in early 2025, Wingaru will be the new home for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and PDHPE (Personal Development Health and Physical Education), as well as Learning Enrichment and six House areas.
Fr Tom Renshaw, SJ, College Rector, addressed the group providing pertinent historical insights about the College’s evolution and the Jesuits ongoing commitment to contemporary scientific thinking. He also highlighted the collaborative process to discern the building’s name, Wingaru, “to think.” Principal Dr Paul Hine, spoke of how the Wingaru building is underpinned by the College’s commitment to inspiring and educating the current and next generations of students to create a better world. Russell Newman, Deputy Principal- Teaching and Learning, elaborated on the building’ purpose and its design, which enables interdisciplinary and project based learning.
Wingaru celebrates the College’s First Nations and Jesuit traditions, by providing innovative spaces in which students can think, question and act.
