Dear Members of the College Community,

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has today announced a public hearing to be held in Sydney starting October 20 as part of a case study examining child-to-child sexual abuse.

The Royal Commission has advised that Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, is not being investigated for any such matters at the school.

However, the Royal Commission has indicated it will examine:

The response of St Ignatius’ College Riverview to a student who is alleged to have been sexually abused at another school; and,

The systems, policies, procedures and practices for responding to allegations of problematic or harmful sexual behaviours of children within educational institutions promoted and implemented by St Ignatius’ College, Riverview and a number of other institutions.

The College fully supports the important work of the Royal Commission and its vital role in ensuring the protection, safety and well-being of all children.

The College has and will continue to cooperate fully with the Royal Commission.

Kind regards,

Dr Paul Hine

Principal
