pigot.jpgThe Riverview Observatory was founded in 1908 by Fr Edward Francis Pigot.SJ.

Fr Pigot was born on18th September 1858 at Dundrumborn in Ireland and died at North Sydney on 22 May 1929 he is buried in the Society of Jesus grave at Gore Hill Cemetery.

The reference to Fr Pigot in the Australian Dictionary of Biography online edition is based on information held at the Observatory and was written by former director of the Observatory Fr. Laurie Drake SJ

The work Fr Pigots started 100 years ago continues today and is still used by the scientists of the 21st Century.
