Dances' Procedures
Permission: From Director of Middle School or Director of Students via Planning Committee
To girls' schools:
- Initial
email or phone contact with the Year Co-Ordinator to invite girls and
ascertain whether or not they will be able to attend the dance.

Letter
to Year Co-Ordinator of schools whose girls can attend, stating time,
cost, dress, venue, rules and outlining what the Year Co-Ordinator
needs to do. The letter must contain the following paragraph:
"Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview is bound by the National Privacy
Principles contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act. In some
circumstances, Riverview may be provided with certain personal
information about others from a third party. Riverview will only use
this parent contact information to look after its students' educational
and social well being and to allow the College to discharge its duty of
care. Under the terms of the Privacy Act, a school may disclose
personal information to another school. Any information collected will
be destroyed as soon as practical after the dance."
- Letter
which can be sent home to girls' parents giving the same information
plus directions regarding pickup and how to find the school.

A numbered list to be filled in with girls' names and parent contact details.
- Ask
for list of girls to be faxed or emailed back to Riverview by the day
of the dance. Otherwise, ask for a teacher from the school to attend
briefly (30 minutes) to check their students and to give us contact
numbers.
- Supervisors:Year Co-Ordinator
and Assistant, SRC Coordinator, Division Master for that evening, other
interested staff, two security guards (one female), Year 12 SRC Reps
and school captains and Beadle (6 boys), No other year 11 or 12
boarders.
- Standard letter/permission form to Riverview parents, giving time, date, rules, pickup information.
- Dance Committee
within the Year to organise tickets, advertising posters, DJ, lights,
soft drink, set-up and clean-up. DJ to be told no strobe lights, no
smoke machines.
- Numbered list of boys attending. (Year Co-Ordinator and SRC reps) One staff member should be on the boys' check in table.
- Stamps
and textas for checking students in. Numbered list of boys with parent
contact numbers. Lists back from girls' schools. Table for checking.
Hands to be stamped, numbered. Open doors 15 minutes before start of
dance and close 30 minutes after scheduled start time.
- 'Cloak' room to be supervised to protect personal belonging. (SRC)
Rules:
- No Alcohol. No smoking. No drugs.
- No person is to leave before the finishing time without prior permission.
- No person is to be admitted after the closing time without prior permission.
- All
bags, even very small ones, must be checked and can be accessed during
the evening only under the supervision of staff member.
- Girls must have photo ID and be on the list provided by their school to be admitted.
- All
students must give parent contact details for the evening. Parents to
be contacted to come to collect student for any breaking of the rules.
- Any
student arriving under the influence of any substance will have their
parents rung immediately and will not be admitted to the dance.
- Only
participating year (boys) to attend. Girls' schools to sell tickets to
girls for whom the dance is appropriate, but not younger than the year
below the boys.
- Students must follow all directions of supervisors.
- If the dance is in the Gartlan Centre, then no glow sticks and the only shoes permitted are joggers.
