Ned Kelly

Written by Douglas Stewart

Year 10 students

O’Kelly Theatre, 7.30 pm

Wednesday 29th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st August, 2012

Stewart was one of the first writers to depict Kelly as a mythical hero and prompter of questions on what it means to be Australian. Ned Kelly deals with the themes of the underdog and his fight against society, the ambiguous rebel as lawless hero and the collision of conformist capitalism against outback survival, and the play’s anti-naturalistic language evokes epic scenes of endurance in vast hostile landscapes.

Director: Cassy Cochrane

Assistant Director: Angela Pollicino
