Men @ Work

The Men at Wok programme is an initiative to provide students in Year 8 with the opportunity to visit the workplace of his father, or, in somecases, that of another significant adult.

Men @ Work Feedback

From students:

“My father works under property development and his job involves looking after, and visiting construction sites, and attending long and tiresome meetings. I realised that although this job is difficult, my father still enjoys his work, and it showed me how hard work (as long as its satisfying) can be enjoyable“

“My father and I went to State parliament. At Parliament House it was question time, which was exciting to see. The people in parliament squabbled over issues, some important, some not. I found the day very fulfilling and I was interested to see my father do his work“

“Though we were only in the court room for a short period of time, we were able to see how the justice system worked. It was a very rewarding experience, and I think that a job in the justice system would be a very special job“

“During the Men @ Work program I visited my Uncle's workplace. I learned about the importance of technology, and gained an insight into how the courts work.“

“After this activity I had new respect for my dad and the hard life that he leads. Although my ambitions to become a lawyer have now come to a halt, it was quite interesting to see the big guy at work“

From parents:

“A commendable initiative-Tom said it opened his eyes to a few things“
“It's important that the boys realise and appreciate what Dad (and Mum) does to keep the ship afloat“
“An excellent opportunity for boys to interact at a formative age with their parents vocations“
“Both Patrick and I got a lot out of our time together.this program should be encouraged“
